Questions and Answers Regarding Pershing

Questions

How will the transition to Pershing impact my NMIS Brokerage Account Statement?

The new NMIS Brokerage Account Statement is a powerful communications tool that presents information in easy-to-read sections that allows you to readily track and monitor your account activity. Sections like "Valuation at a Glance" and "Summary of Gains and Losses" are among the features that set the new statement apart from other statements. In addition, you will continue to receive an annual Tax Information Statement that summarizes your taxable financial activity for the year, making tax time easier.

If I have an account with combined mailings (householded), will I continue to receive the summary statement cover page?

If the accounts are currently householded, you will receive a summary statement comparable to the Master Connect statement called "Select Link" that will accompany your household statement mailing. New householded accounts will also automatically receive this statement in the combined mailing.

Will IRA fees be waived for householded accounts at a certain value?

Yes, in 2006 all client households with NMIS IRAs totaling $100,000 or more will not be charged IRA fees. For householded IRAs less than $100,000, each IRA will be charged an annual fee of $50.

How will I be notified when my NMIS Gateway Platinum reward points are expiring?

Rewards points are not listed on your NMIS Brokerage Account Statement; however you may obtain details on reward points by accessing the website myrewardsuite.com.

Who should checks be made payable to?

Payments by check should be made payable to Pershing LLC. NMIS has partnered with Pershing to process payments, disbursements and trade executions. Therefore, when you deposit money into your NMIS brokerage account, please make your checks payable directly to Pershing LLC.

How do I establish or make changes to electronic funds transfer information for my NMIS brokerage account?

If you currently use your NMIS brokerage account to transfer funds electronically to other companies or institutions, you need to provide those entities receiving payment with your new NMIS brokerage account number. Similarly, if you have Resource Checking or a NMIS Gateway Platinum checking account, you will need to provide those institutions with a voided check which reflects both your NMIS account number and bank routing number.

Is there an electronic bill pay feature available with my NMIS brokerage account?

Yes. NMIS Gateway Platinum clients can take advantage of an online bill payment service. This service is known as E-Bill Management and is accessed through our Web site. For a small monthly fee you will be able to enjoy the following convenient benefits from E-Bill Management:

  • Unlimited payments to any individual or institution
  • All bills can be paid online
  • Avoid missing due dates and incurring late fees
  • Track the status of your finances

To enroll in E-Bill Management, you must first have a valid NMIS Online User ID and password along with a Gateway Platinum account. Then login to NMIS Online (www.nmis.nmfn.com), click on the Financial Services Tab and select E-Bill Management Enrollment to access the application form. Print and complete the application and then provide it to your registered representative for processing.

Why did I get two statements?

Since the conversion to Pershing took place in the middle of February, you received two February statements, one from Pershing and one from Baird. The Pershing statement reflected the transfer of your account assets from Baird along with February account activity subsequent to the transfer. Your Baird statement reflected the transfer of assets to Pershing and the closing of your Baird account. The Baird statement displayed all February account activity prior to the transfer of assets to Pershing.

Why did I get a February Pershing statement show a $0 balance?

Due to industry regulations that require NMIS to periodically confirm certain client information, you may periodically receive an account statement from NMIS, regardless if any assets or positions are held in the NMIS account.

I can't find some of my mutual fund holdings on my statement — where are they?

If you have investments held directly with the issuer, at the mutual fund company or annuity company, you will no longer see these investments on your NMIS Brokerage Account Statement or on the account viewing screen of NMIS Online if you subscribe to online access. You will continue to receive statements of assets and activity directly from the issuer.

Why is my statement asking me to "Please Provide Address"?

Industry regulations require that NMIS have a current street address for a Legal Address on file for each account owner. In the past you may have provided your registered representative with a Post Office (PO) Box for the Legal Address. If this is the case, we are asking that you contact your registered representative to provide your current address including house number, street name, city, state, and zip code. You may also contact us by using the instructions on the last page of your account statement. Please note that a PO Box is acceptable only for a mailing address.

I have a question about my 2005 Tax Statement, who should I call?

Contact your registered representative or IPS Retail Investment Operations at 1-866-664-7737 with questions regarding your 2005 Tax Statement.

My NMIS Online password is not working, what do I do?

As part of the conversion to Pershing, all NMIS Online passwords were reset to a temporary password. In mid-January you should have received a letter with this information. If you do not remember your temporary password, please contact IPS Retail Investment Operations at 1-866-664-7737, option 3.

If you have already logged in, changed your temporary password, and setup your security questions, just click on the "Forgot Password?" link and answer the security questions.

If you did not setup your security questions, or cannot remember the answers, please contact IPS Retail Investment Operations at 1-866-664-7737, option 3.

How do I add or delete accounts that I have setup for online viewing?

If you currently have accounts that are combined for statements, but do not have access to them for online viewing, either contact your registered representative or IPS Retail Investment Operations at 1-866-664-7737 and request that the missing account(s) be added for online viewing.

If you want to add or delete accounts for online viewing that you do not have combined for statement purposes, you will need to contact your registered representative and complete a "Consolidated Client Authorization" form. This form will be used to determine the accounts that are available for online viewing as well as for consolidated mailing purposes.

Why can't I download my account information to Quicken?

Make sure that you are selecting NMIS, LLC from the list of Financial Institutions and that you are using your NMIS Online User Id and NEW NMIS Online password.

Visit www.nminvestments.com and click on "Quicken Account Download" for more detailed information regarding downloading account information into Quicken.

Why can't I see any of my account history?

As part of the conversion to Pershing, only current account positions were converted. This is an industry standard. Detailed account history for transactions prior to the conversion is available from your registered representative or on your NMIS Brokerage Account Statements.

How can I see all my account information rather than just one account at a time?

Select "Combined Accounts" from the Account dropdown. This feature is available on the Portfolio Holdings and Projected Cash Flow pages.
