Investment Strategy:

The Index 400 Stock Portfolio will attempt to meet its objective by investing in stocks included in the S&P MidCap 400® Index in proportion to their weighting in the index. The S&P MidCap 400® Index is composed of 400 common stocks. The companies included in the S&P MidCap 400® Index are generally smaller than those that comprise the S&P 500® Index. Most of the companies in the S&P MidCap 400® Index have a market value in the range of $750 million to $5 billion.

The Index 400 Stock Portfolio will not be managed in the traditional sense using economic, financial and market analysis. A computer program will be used to determine which stocks are to be purchased or sold to achieve the Portfolio's objective. The Portfolio will, to the extent feasible, remain fully invested and will normally hold at least 375 of the 400 issues that comprise the S&P MidCap 400® Index. The Index 400 Stock Portfolio's ability to match the performance of the S&P MidCap 400® Index will be affected to some extent by the size and timing of cash flows into and out of the Index 400 Stock Portfolio. The Portfolio will be managed with a view to reducing such effects.
